I’ve been called a lot of things, I guess. Stoner. Introvert. Writer. You’d think that none of these labels would help me in a three-month job training program in Washington, D.C., but that’s what happened. And why did I pursue something like that in the first place? It was just time. I needed to find success, for once in my life. I needed a solid job, one of those jobs where I wasn’t completely exhausted by the end of it, one where I didn’t feel stuck. And having actual money would help a lot, too. Oh, and I guess I should mention that throughout this training I’m about to tell you all about, I also dealt with lingering depression the deep, debilitating kind, the kind that stems from being pinballed through the foster care system as a kid and the drama that comes with working at a weed dispensary. Not to mention the fact that at one point, my migraines return. Yeah, wait until you get to that part, it’s a lot of fun. Nothing in my life has ever been perfect. Far from it, in fact. I’ve learned that that’s okay, though. It’s actually made me who I am. It’s gotten me through the relationships I’ve had, for better or for worse. Sometimes, I suppose, that’s the most anyone can ask for. If there’s one thing I know you’ll get from reading this, it’s realness, rawness, and honesty. So, welcome. The Introvert Enigma has had a bit of a road to get here. Without getting too deep into it, the publication process didn't go the way I planned — there were issues along the way that made it clear the traditional route wasn't the right fit for this story anymore. Rather than let it sit in limbo, I made the call to bring it home.
